As a Villanova student, Dr. Jenkins won an Olympic Gold Medal in both the men’s 400 meters and 4x400 relay. After graduation from Villanova, he was the recipient of a U.S. State Department grant and coached and lectured in 17 Asian Countries. He was on the administrative staff of the Peace Corps in Washington, DC in Indonesia and Thailand. For ten years he was the Villanova head coach for Men’s and Women’s Track and Field.
Dr. Jenkins worked for several federal agencies in Washington, D.C., The Office of Education, The Poverty Corps, The Social Security Administration and the White House. In January 2016 he retired from the Federal Government after 42 years of service.
He is a member of the National Track and Field Hall of Fame and received many donors for community service. Dr. Jenkins is married to Issie L. Jenkins Esq., with three adult children and two granddaughters. His son Charles L. Jenkins Esq. graduated from Villanova University and Villanova School of Law. In 1992, as a Villanova student, Charles Jr., was the winner of an Olympic Gold Medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Charles Jr. and Charles Sr. are the only father and son to win an Olympic Gold Medal in the same event in Track and Field.
